Find the work you have done but have not billed.

A busy week can leave time entries behind. Review eligible unbilled work before you prepare your next invoice.

Put it into a real working day

Set aside a weekly review. Look for eligible entries, check the client and rate, and exclude work already billed or handled under a different arrangement before sweeping time into an invoice.

Make descriptions useful to another person

An entry called work gives little support when you or the client revisit it. A short description such as revised landing-page copy after client review explains the activity without exposing confidential detail. Record the date and client consistently. This makes review easier even when the same person delivers the work and handles the accounts.

Separate recorded time from permission to charge

Record start and end times with the timezone, then review billable status, the agreement and approval. Entered time may still be pending review or covered by a retainer. Split entries that cross the remaining included hours.

Time to billing

Bring reviewed work into the billing conversation.

  1. Dated time + agreement
  2. Approval and eligibility review
  3. Eligible billable unbilled time
  4. Invoice review
  5. Pending, covered or already billed

Use a small review window

Choose a regular review point that fits your work, such as the end of the week. Compare the time list with your own project notes, identify missing descriptions and confirm which entries belong on the next bill. The aim is a clear list of work to review, not a claim that every recorded minute produces revenue.

Prepare the invoice deliberately

Select eligible approved work through the supported billing workflow. Review existing invoice links and linked corrections before submitting. Inspect the resulting invoice; recording time is not itself invoicing or payment.

Keep the follow-up human

After creating the invoice, review its PDF and use your normal delivery channel. AI can help draft a concise explanation of the work or a polite reminder, but it should not invent an acceptance or payment promise. A timeout also deserves a record check before another creation attempt.

A practical checklist for your next working week

Review client, date and description for each entry. Separate included or retainer-covered work. Choose only the entries that belong on the bill. Verify the saved invoice before delivering it.
