Allocate additional costs to received stock

Review the allocation between remaining inventory and goods already sold.

Before you start

You need the relevant purchasing access, a purchase with received stock and verified additional-cost documents. Weight or volume allocation needs the relevant product measurements.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the purchase with received inventory.
  2. Enter the additional bill reference, date, amount and applicable tax details.
  3. Choose value, weight or volume as the allocation basis.
  4. Confirm the quantity still held from each received line.
  5. Review and submit the supported allocation.
  6. Inspect the inventory and sold-stock expense result.

Landed cost split

  1. 100 units received
  2. 60 units remaining
  3. Additional cost: 200
  4. Review basis and quantities
  5. Inventory portion: 120
  6. Sold-stock expense: 80

Check the result

The supported workflow assigns the remaining-stock portion to inventory value and the sold-stock portion to expense. Valuation can include FIFO handling where configured.

If you get stuck

Check that remaining quantities do not exceed the relevant received or available quantities, and that the selected basis has valid positive data.

One thing to remember

Allocation does not automatically change selling prices or determine customs obligations. Use actual source documents and the appropriate accounting process.
